Arctic Mobility Arena

This is where heavy transport and machinery go fossil-free. In Storuman, reaching Arjeplog and Skellefteå, we test hydrogen and battery vehicles, logistics, and drones – in real-world conditions.

A unique test environment

Arctic Mobility Arena combines strong logistics and advanced infrastructure to create a unique test environment. The hydrogen station and the surrounding forests are just a few examples of ingredients that make this a perfect setting for innovation.

Focus areas

Heavy transport and machinery: fossil-free trucks and machines – pilots and demos.

Droneport: long-haul drone freight and cross-modal testing.

Rail: fossil-free freight transport and logistics.

Together for innovation

Arctic Mobility Arena is led by Luleå University of Technology through ACE, in collaboration with Skellefteå Kraft and Industri- och logistikcentrum i Storuman (ILC). The arena also brings together a wider network of actors, including VTI and SPGA.

Together, the partners and participating organisations create a platform for innovation, pilot projects and skills development, open to industry, public authorities and academia.

Arctic Mobility Arena is funded by Region Västerbotten through the European Regional Development Fund, with co-financing from its partners.

Experience and verify new technology

The arena offers an open environment for:

  • Collaborative innovation and stakeholder dialogues

  • Demonstrations of vehicles and technology

  • Education and training workshops

  • Trade shows and industry events

ACE Sandbox access

Through ACE Sandbox industry, academia, and public authorities gain access collaborative testbeds, data, and real-world experimentation. This helps accelerate the shift toward electrified, fossil-free transport in northern Sweden and beyond.
